THESPONK STUDIOS (from Marco’s writing tag: Sponk) was a creative collective founded in 2005 in Bologna, Italy, which lasted for about a decade. theSPONK was active in Bologna’s underground cultural scene: organising cineforums and art exhibitions, producing and self-distributing short films in the earliest years of the digital revolution, and winning competitions along the way. The network consisted of videomakers from diverse backgrounds, initially based in Italy and later scattered across the globe (Paris, London, Los Angeles, Prague, Rome, South Korea) to gather experience and develop new skills.
The collective included many members over its existence, with notable figures such as feature film directors Giovanni Aloi, Stefano Cipani, and Giovanni Fumu, video artist and director Andrea Barone, and producer Jacopo Trazzi.
